BTP was conceived as a site to help guys in the Midwest upgrade their everyday style for work, home, and play. While there are numerous helpful men's style sites, the BTP difference is that it focuses on basic style for guys in an area of the country where men's style doesn't get the play it does on the coasts or in the South. Despite this, we've encountered many guys around the Midwest who would like to upgrade their personal style but are unsure of where to begin. We decided to take the basic advice we give in such situations and make it available more widely through this site.
No style question is too dumb to be asked or addressed at BTP. We believe one of the main barriers to upgrading style is the intimidation that can come from unfamiliarity with a topic. Uneasiness in conversing with a men's store clerk or tailor can prevent guys from taking the style steps they want to take. By providing information on even the most basic topics, we hope to help guys feel more comfortable as they expand their wardrobe.
The quote on our front page by E.B. White was in reference to writing style, but we feel it's also applicable to personal style. The key to personal style is knowing yourself. If you affect a style that doesn't reflect who are are, you will not be comfortable in what you wear, and it will show.
We're based in Kansas City: home of the world's greatest BBQ and a place where one gets the chance to dress for all four seasons. Both are things we love about this town.
